I know it's been a long time...

since I last blogged and I could lie and say that I have been really busy, but that's not really true! I was lucky enough not to have to work this summer and just relax and get the house ready for Ben (which still isn't done-YIKES) and I am so thankful! It really has been a blessing not to have to work or worry about much of anything except staying healthy and cool!

Lots of things have happened since I last blogged:

1) Mike was blessed with a new job at Halliburton! He has been working so hard-about 16-17 hours a day-but has such a great attitude! We are so thankful that this job happened and I am so proud of my husband for working so hard for our family!

2) I have a gorgeous new niece-Emma Claire! She is the daughter of my sister, Ashley, and brother in law, Leo, and the little sister of Lilly! She is so precious and a really good baby!

3) As for baby Ben, he is doing great! I have had such a smooth pregnancy-Ben has always been right on track with his weight and length.  My due date is September 16th, but I would take him a little early so that my sister and nieces can meet him before they head back to California!

Our family is so blessed and are very thankful!

It's a BOY!!!!

Mike and I went to a sonogram place called Stork Vision this last week to find out if our little one is a boy or girl, partly because my mom is leaving for California to help my sister when she has her baby and partly because I am too impatient to wait another 4 weeks for my doctor to do my 2nd sonogram! Mike and I have felt since we got pregnant that it was a boy, but we were so excited when it was confirmed by the sonogram! The technician told us not to buy too much stuff (yeah, right) until the diagnostic sonogram done by the doctor, but it was pretty obvious! We can't wait to meet our son, Benjamin Scott!

What a Difference...

7 weeks can make!  I wasn't showing at all and had even started to lose weight! This week Mike had to take me to Destination Maternity to get some longer shirts because I am definitely starting to show!
Mike and I go to our second appointment with our OB tomorrow and I am a little disappointed that we don't get to have another sonogram! I guess listening to our little one's heartbeat will have to do! Our OB won't do another sonogram until we are 20 weeks, so if they keep our appointments on the same schedule we should find out what we are having in 8 weeks-I am so excited! I started this pregnancy 99.5% sure it was a boy-just a feeling that I had.  Now I'm not so sure! Either way, as long as the baby is healthy!

Our Journey to Becoming Parents

Mike and I knew once we got married we wanted to start our family almost immediately.  When a year had gone by and we hadn't conceived, we decided to go ahead and see a fertility specialist.  After several tests and sonograms, the doctor decided that most likely I don't ovulate.  We fixed that problem with medicine and an IUI.  After the IUI procedure, we had to wait 2 weeks before we could take a test to see if we were pregnant or not.  That was the longest 2 weeks of our life!!!  My patience made it 1 week and 6 days and I had to take a test.  Mike had left to go work out and I took a test.  After 5 minutes I looked at the test and there very faint, was 2 PINK LINES!!!!! I was so excited, but I wanted someone else to see the test and verify that there was in fact 2 lines.  Mike got home and the first thing I said to him was "Do you see 2 lines?"  He said he did! We were so excited, but trying to stay calm just in case.  Of course, the minute I left for school, I called my mom and told her-then when I got to school I told 3 of my closest friends, Amy, Michelle, and Misty.  I decided to go take another test at lunch time and there were two lines again.  I called the doctor and told him that I had a positive pregnancy test.  They had me come in for a blood test to check my HcG and hormone levels.  I went in and my HcG level was a 74, so I was definitely pregnant.  This is when it really started to hit us that we were indeed pregnant!
Last Friday we went for our first sonogram.  We saw our little sweet pea and his heart was just fluttering away!  I am 7 weeks pregnant and due September 16th.  We go to my regular OBGYN in 2 weeks.  We are so excited about this journey and becoming parents!

1st Anniversary

Well, we made it through our first year! My sweet husband planned a wonderful weekend.  We stayed at the BEAUTIFUL Omni Hotel in downtown Ft. Worth Friday and Saturday night.  On Saturday, we ate breakfast at The Cracker Barrel and then headed to the Gaylord Texan.  It was so gorgeous-we spent 2 hours just walking around the hotel.  Then we went to The ICE.  This year, the theme was A Charlie Brown Christmas, which is my favorite Christmas movie.  The ice sculptures were amazing.  That night we ate dinner at Reata in downtown Ft. Worth which was fantastic! We had a delicious meal and our waiter even comped our dessert for our anniversary! I am so blessed to be married to Mike!

Guess I Will Finally Start Blogging

So after spending two nights trying to figure out how to change the background of my blog and several texts to my blog-savvy friend (thanks, Misty), I think that I finally figured it out! I'm going to try to blog at least once every week, so bear with me if it is boring! Hopefully, some exciting things will happen in 2011!
